Nextanity is artist-first. We built the platform so independent artists can make money from their art without a middleman deciding when they get paid.
The rule
Artists who are currently signed to a record label, publishing deal, or exclusive distribution contract may not open an artist account on Nextanity. You are always welcome to join as a fan.
Why?
- Most label / publishing / exclusive distribution contracts already lock up rights to your music, artwork, and merch, and dictate where and how you can earn.
- If you monetize on Nextanity while signed, you risk breaching your existing contract — and we don't want to be the reason you get sued.
- Nextanity's whole point is direct artist-to-fan revenue. Middlemen already own that relationship for signed artists.
What counts as "signed"?
Any active exclusive agreement with:
- A record label (major or indie) that holds your masters or exclusive recording rights.
- A music publisher that holds exclusive publishing rights.
- An exclusive distribution or 360 deal that restricts where you can release or sell.
Non-exclusive distribution (e.g. DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby without exclusivity) is fine.
Already signed and want to use Nextanity anyway?
Join as a fan. Follow the artists you love, buy their merch, and vote for who's next. When your deal ends or expires, come back and register as an artist.
Enforcement
You confirm eligibility during sign-up and again on your profile before turning on any monetization feature. If we learn an artist account is misrepresenting eligibility, we may pause payouts, remove listings, and terminate the account.
Nextanity Screen — Community Guidelines
These rules apply to Screen profiles, headshots, reels, credits, the Casting Board and the Opportunities tracker, in addition to everything above. Privacy specifics for Screen live in the Screen Hub Privacy Policy.
Screen profiles — acceptable behavior
- Be yourself. One profile per person, real name or working stage name, no impersonation of another performer, agency or production.
- Post only your own media. Headshots, reels and self-tapes you own or have permission to use. Don't post footage that a production hasn't cleared for public release.
- Keep credits truthful. List roles you actually performed. Don't inflate a background role into a lead, and don't claim representation you don't have.
- Keep it work-safe. No nudity, sexual content, gore, hate symbols or harassment in headshots, reels or bios.
- 18+. Screen profiles are for adults. Don't create a profile for a minor performer.
- No contact-farming. Don't use profiles to collect member contact details for outside marketing lists.
Casting Board — acceptable behavior
- Post real roles only. A genuine project, an actual role, and accurate shoot dates, location and deadline.
- Be honest about pay. If it's unpaid, deferred or copy/credit/meals, say so. Don't label unpaid work as paid.
- Never charge to audition. No fees for submissions, callbacks, "mandatory" classes, headshot packages or representation as a condition of being seen.
- No nudity or intimacy requests in a first submission or self-tape. Intimacy requirements must be disclosed in the listing and handled on set with proper protocols.
- Don't ask for sensitive data. No government ID, Social Security numbers, bank details, home addresses or private photos through the Board.
- No discriminatory posts. Casting for a specific role attribute is fine when it's genuinely required by the part; blanket exclusions unrelated to the role are not.
- Applicants: apply to roles you're genuinely right for, keep pitches respectful, and don't spam posters with repeat submissions.
- Posters: applicant details are for casting that role only. Don't reuse, resell or share them.
- Close your listings once the role is filled or the deadline passes.
Reporting
- Use the report control on the profile, listing or clip — that's the fastest route and it attaches the item for us.
- Include what happened, any off-platform messages, and screenshots if you have them.
- For safety-critical issues (scams, fees to audition, requests for nudity or ID, harassment) email safety@nextanity.com. For copyright, use Copyright / DMCA.
- Block and stop responding to the other party while we review. Never send money or documents to "confirm" a role.
We aim to acknowledge Screen reports within 2 business days, and faster for safety-critical ones. Reports are confidential — we don't tell the reported party who filed.
Screen enforcement ladder
- Warning & edit request — for first-time, fixable issues like a misleading pay label or an unclear listing.
- Content removal — the listing, reel, headshot or credit comes down.
- Feature suspension — losing the ability to post casting calls or apply to roles.
- Profile unpublished — the Screen profile is hidden from public view.
- Account termination — for scams, pay-to-audition schemes, sexual exploitation, impersonation, harassment or repeat violations. Termination can happen immediately, with no prior warning, for safety-critical conduct.
Think a decision was wrong? Reply to the enforcement email or write to appeals@nextanity.com within 30 days and a different reviewer will take a second look.
